Re-elect Mayor JUN BERNABE for Parañaque City!!!
This was the statement issued by Parañaque City Mayor Florencio Bernabe Jr. who categorically made his position clear and denounced his political rivals for resorting to black propaganda based on lies and falsehood hoping that they can sway the voters’ sympathy in their favor on this issue.
Bernabe said the city government is not insensitive to the plight of homeowners and businessmen during these hard times and to prove their point, they have implemented a real estate tax amnesty to help ease the burden by waiving all interests and surcharges until the end of April, 2010, from the original March 31 deadline.
“My detractors must be very desperate for legitimate causes to take issue against me to the point that they are now scraping muck at the bottom of the barrel to throw to me and confuse the voters but that won’t work,” Bernabe stressed.
He added that his constituents know better and can see for themselves the improvement and performance when they see one. Bernabe admitted that while the City Council did float two years ago the idea of raising real estate taxes to bring real estate valuations in the city close to or at par with those being adopted by neighboring cities like Pasay, Las Piñas, and Muntinlupa, he junked the proposal after listening to the near unanimous objection of the city residents following a series of public hearings called by the City Council attended by a cross section of homeowners and business operators in the city.
